As usual your lip balms are a superior product. The chocolate mint is fantastic. I love the licorice – use it every night, before I walk the dog. The cinnamon I use at work . . . like aromatherapy as well as lip moistener. I like that there is no sweetness or artifical sweetener. Our lips, unlike our face, do not secrete their own inherent oil or sebum and lip balms help to provide a protective barrier from the drying effect of the environment. This well-designed lip balm recipe provides just the right combination of ingredients to soothe and protect our lips, a very sensitive area.
Base Ingredients
Organic Virgin Oil de Coco Crème
This is a biologically-pure oil, extracted from fresh coconut milk without the use of heat or chemicals. When used in topical applications, Virgin Oil de Coco Crème is considered skin nourishing with skin regenerative and moisturizing properties as well as containing natural antioxidants and Vitamin E. This luscious oil has the sweet scent of fresh coconut and is light and easily absorbed by skin. This organic oil is a perfect choice as a quality ingredient for Soaps by Selina’s luxurious lip balms.
Natural Beeswax
Only pure and natural beeswax is used in Soaps By Selina’s lip balms, never refined and all locally-harvested beeswax. Pure beeswax has a natural, golden colour and honey aroma. Beeswax adds hardness to the lip balm base as well as laying down a protective barrier. Beeswax is also a skin softener and humectant, drawing moisture from the air to skin and also has antiseptic properties.
Golden Jojoba Oil
Jojoba pronounced “hohoba” is actually a liquid wax, similar in structure to our skin’s own oil or sebum. Jojoba oil is extracted from the mature jojoba seed. Only unrefined, golden jojoba is used in Soaps By Selina’s lip balms. Jojoba has natural Vitamin E, which is excellent for skin repair as well as being a natural preservative. Jojoba has an SPF of around 2-4 as well as antibacterial properties.
Mango Butter
Mango butter is pressed from the seed kernel of the mango fruit. Mango butter has an excellent reputation as a skin-softener and moisturizer and is soothing to dry, environmentally-damaged skin. Mango Butter is also reputed to have skin-regenerating and wound-healing properties. Mango Butter has a natural SPF of around 2-4.

Cocoa Butter
Pure natural cocoa butter, with the aroma of rich dark chocolate, is extracted from the cocoa bean. Cocoa butter lays down a protective barrier on the skin making it a perfect natural moisturizer and skin softener. Cocoa butter is used in Soaps By Selina’s Chocolate-Mint lip balm.
Essential Oils
Essential oils are pure plant extracts that are extremely concentrated that provide aroma, taste or flavouring in Soaps By Selina’s lip balms as well as any therapeutic plant properties.
